We serve breakfast on our patio in the mornings and it was a warm morning with all the 8/10 guests visiting and enjoying the view. A week or so before a shepherd mix showed up at the door, thin and so sad. We posted and watched for ads for a lost dog but nothing. We had decided that morning that he was now available for adoption. Until then he had not paid attention to any guest. That morning he went over and laid down by a lady that was in the group of people and would not leave her side. She asked about him and so I told the story to her and she began to tell her own story to me. Her dog had died a week or so earlier and she was missing him so much. She took the dog home with her that very day and has called several times to tell us about him and that the family is so happy he is now a part of the family.
We have placed over 10 dogs in the last few years that have been dropped off at Cherry Wood. Each dog has a story and they always pick the people they want to go home with. We love giving our Canine and Wine Walk and have raised over $5000.00 for rescue dogs.
